How to Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera
One of the most common things I hear from clients before a session is: “We’re awkward in photos.” And honestly? Almost everyone feels that way at first. The truth is, you do not need modeling experience to have beautiful, natural photos. A huge part of my job as your photographer is helping you feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely connected throughout your session. The best photos usually happen in the in-between moments — laughing together, fixing your hair, walking hand in hand, or simply taking a breath and being present with each other. Those moments create images that feel authentic instead of overly posed.
My Approach During Sessions
I focus heavily on movement and interaction rather than stiff posing. Instead of placing you in one exact pose and expecting perfection, I guide you naturally the entire time.
You’ll hear prompts like:
“Walk toward me slowly.”
“Whisper something funny.”
“Pull them in closer.”
“Look at each other instead of the camera.”
What You Should Wear
Feeling comfortable in photos also starts with what you wear. Most importantly, wear something that feels like you. Confidence always photographs beautifully.
I always recommend:
neutral or soft colors
outfits you feel confident in
textures and movement
avoiding overly distracting patterns
Trust the Process
You do not have to know how to pose. You do not have to practice beforehand. And you definitely do not have to be “photogenic.” My goal is to create a space where you can relax, enjoy the moment, and walk away with photos that truly feel like you. The best images are rarely the perfectly posed ones — they’re the ones filled with connection, movement, and emotion.
